Paris is one of those cities that has it all; history, culture, fashion and beauty.
It is the kind of city where even if you know all the off-the-beaten-path places to visit, you can still find a hidden gem right around the corner. It is an endless exploration. It continuously reveals itself to you the more time you linger and enjoy just being in the city.
Paris is a city that focuses on just being or as the French say, the “être”.. It has that “je ne sais quoi” factor that cannot be explained. Like a dream, the magic is in the experience.
Paris is a city that has my heart, and everytime I travel there I aspire to share the magic and bringing it home somehow.
Thus the dream was born.
“I should start a store!!”
All my creative energy and enthusiasm bubbles up to recreate the beauty I see everytime I am in Paris. Why can’t we have that at home?
I would talk about it and constantly dream of the beautiful objects I could offer. Whenever I would see a cute commercial space with great lighting and windows I would tell my husband “that would be a PERFECT place for my store!”
Somehow though the timing wasn’t quite right. Newly retired from our business, we were in travel mode, free to do as we pleased and not ready to settle down with another business.
Still my heart would dream of my own little boutique where I could recreate a piece of Paris at home.
And then it happened!
This past month my son found a space to lease for his tea shop, the Marais
tea co. and it just so happens to have a perfect spot for me and my dream.
So watch this space, and for updates on instagram. The planning and shopping begins next week. I am off to Paris attempting to bring items home and to transform this space into our own little piece of the city that holds my heart
